'87 was the last year for the shelby chargers, production number were pretty darn low, at only 1,011 made. This car is one of 445 made in garnett red.

I have RESURECTED this car, well. not really just me, this was my first project car back when I really didnt know alot about autobody work, but I had a pretty big hand in it. We took a beat up worn out car that had nearly 200,000 miles on it, and completely rebuilt it. Everything from the body and interior, to the engine and transmission have been redone. We built this thing to drag race, Im not sure how streetable it is going to be. Just a few minor mechanical things, and it will be done. I should be hitting the dragstrips this summer.

Current mods:

2.5 common block, Rebuilt with stock Mahle aluminum pistons, with ballast shaft removed, and widened oil pickup, plus oil pan baffle.

Converted to an intercooler setup

Stage II Mopar Performance Logic Module

20+ Mopar Performance Injectors.

Mopar Performance competition cam

52 mm. throttle body

Custom TBI type header

New Garrett GT25005 Turbo

Centerforce clutch

Slightly ported intake

Blow Off Valve installed

Converted to an A520 trans, A555 soon to come

Should be making somewhere around 300HP, will find out soon!

This is my Shelby at the Rapid Transit system Mopar car show in September.

The 2.5

Aww...Aint it pretty. Note  the non flow through TI style airbox-Just there for looks.

Custom Work

Heres a picture of the rear of the 2.5, that shows my custom made TBI header. Made from a non turbo manifold, cut and welded to a custom built turbo flange. Welding cast iron is tricky buisiness. Origional manifold was cocked off to one side, and had unequal exhuast lengths that just screamed suffocation.

Ready to go in

Here it is connected to the a520. I now have a more stout A555 tranny to go in, couldnt find one at the time. Note the flow through TII style airbox. I ended up actually using the TI and cutting a chunk out of the side to run the upper Intercooler line. I also have a cone style aftermarket filter, that I will eventually put on, so I can do away with the airbox completely.

Here it is, awaiting its new motor

Note the reflection of the fog lights down low. Some bastards broke into our shop and stole them, along with my new CD player.
